Imagine what the United States would be like if just a handful of companies owned the major broadcast TV stations and the major Cable companies and the Internet pipes that bring content to consumers:

When the same company owns the content and the pipes that deliver that content, consumers lose. Comcast has already tried to kill off Netflix Internet Streaming. And a Comcast/NBC conglomerate could try to hike up your cable rates, take away your favorite channels, or even stop you from watching your favorite shows online. If this merger goes through, then others will follow. We could end up with a few corporate giants in total control of the flow of information in America.

All that he is asking is that you sign a petition to stop the merger, which you can find here:

AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM AL

The petition needs just 3 pieces of information: Name, email address, Zip Code.

This all wraps into the discussion of network neutrality, which you can learn about here:
- Everyone in the United States who uses the Internet should read this message from Eric Schmidt (CEO of Google) and take action
- If you use the Internet, you should watch this new video on Net Neutrality from Al Franken and take action
